Letter to the Editor,
State of Arkansas, don’t go breaking my heart! The 17-mile section of U.S. Highway 79 from Rison to Fordyce to Rison (sorry, that makes 34 miles) is one of the prettiest drives around anywhere in Arkansas, at least in South Arkansas. And I just noticed 12 minutes ago it is being destroyed by the mowing going on. The golden yellow flowers with the dark centers - about 100 million of them - are all but gone. Could this have been delayed until their deaths?
A 17 year old boy-man, a Rison Wildcat, just a day ago told me of the flowers and how spectacular they are, uh, were. We must contact the highway department delaying this destruction of beauty for the future. If it is good enough for a boy-man Wildcat, it is good enough for me!
