Poss Withdraws Bid To Run For Sheriff

RISON - Cleveland County Sheriff Deputy Michael Poss announced through his Facebook page last Thursday that he has decided to withdraw from the race for sheriff. He informed the Herald of his decision on Monday.Poss, who has been a deputy with the sheriff's department since November 2022, announced his intentions to run in April. However, he said he began thinking about withdrawing from the race about a week ago and made his decision known last Thursday through his social media page. "I have to decided to withdraw my candidacy for Sheriff of Cleveland County (Michael Poss for Sheriff )," he wrote. "I'm very thankful for all the support I was shown from the citizens of Cleveland County." In the same post, he also announced his endorsement of Brad Young for Cleveland County Sheriff. Young, who formerly served with the Arkansas State Police and was a colonel with the wildlife enforcement division of the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission, announced his intentions to run last week.Poss, a resident of the Randall community, was going to run in the Republican primary. The filing period for candidates wanting to run opened Monday and will continue through next Wednesday, Nov. 12....
