Republican Committee Sets Filing Dates for Election

RISON - The Cleveland County Republican Committee announced the filing period for justice of the peace, constable and committee membership will begin at noon Monday, Nov. 3, and end at noon Wednesday, Nov. 12. The Republican Primary is scheduled on March 3, 2026, and the general election is Nov. 3, 2026.Candidates will file to run for office or become a member of the Cleveland County Republican Committee at 303 Main Street at the Hwy. 35 (Magnolia Street) intersection during the filing period. A member of the GOP committee will be present during those hours to accept candidate filing fees and provide required forms.The filing fee for sheriff and county judge is $700; county clerk, treasurer, tax collector, assessor is $600; coroner is $75; mayor of Rison or Kingsland is $200; justice of the peace is $150; county surveyor $25, constable is $25, city council is $50, city recorder/treasurer is $75; and Republican Committee member is $25.The filing forms include a page for the potential candidate or committee member to affirm their concurrence with the principles and objectives of the Republican Party of Arkansas. Potential candidates and members must be residents and registered voters in Cleveland County. Candidates for office must also live in the district they intend to represent. After filing with the GOP Committee, candidates must provide written evidence of the filing fee payment and additional paperwork to the Cleveland County Clerk before noon Nov. 12.Filing documents and fees will be taken at 303 Main St., but the filings must be then taken to the clerks office by the candidate by the noon deadline....
