RISON - Voters in Zone 3 of the Cleveland County School District will go to the polls this Tuesday to decide who will represent the zone on the seven-member Cleveland County School Board for the next five years.
Zone 3 is currently represented by Kelly Taylor, who is seeking re-election. She is being challenged by Steven Saeler. Both are residents of the Kingsland area. The winner will begin their term with the June school board meeting.
The zone includes all the area north and east of the Kingsland city limits north of Hwy. 79, and stretches east and southward toward the Hebron community. The zone also includes an area south and west of the Rison city limits.
Only registered voters within Zone 3 can participate in the election. Early voting is currently underway from 8 a.m. To 4:30 p.m. weekdays at Hall-Morgan Veterans Building, 404 Sycamore Street in Rison. The final day for early voting is Monday, May 8.
Two polling locations will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on election day, which is next Tuesday, May 9. Voting will be available at the Hall-Morgan Veterans Building as well as Kingsland Missionary Baptist Church, 200 First Street in Kingsland.

Steven Saeler
Steven Saeler and his wife, Ashley, have been married for 17 years. Ashley is a Rison native and graduated from Rison High School in 2005. She is the daughter of Annette Taylor and the granddaughter of Topsy Taylor and the late J.D. Taylor. Ashley is currently the Family and Consumer Science teacher at Rison High School and will be taking over junior high cheer for the 2023-2024 school year.
The Saelers are parents to three children, all of whom attend school in the Cleveland County School District.
