Two Killed in One-Car Wreck South of Rison

RISON - Two people died and another was injured in a one-car accident at about 6 p.m. Saturday along Hwy. 35 south of Rison, Arkansas State Police reported. Yeimie Dela Cruz Cordova, 19, of Nacogdoches, Texas, the driver of the car, and an unidentified male passenger listed as John Doe died in the wreck while Pizano Narciso Pulido, 29, residence unlisted, was injured and taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. Cpl. Gregory Rowland of the Arkansas State Police reported that the 2008 Nissan the there were in was traveling southbound along Hwy. 35 when the driver apparently lost control while exiting a left-hand curve. The vehicle rotated left-to-right in a counterclockwise direction before skidding sideways off the road on two wheels and into a ditch on the east side of Hwy. 35. Rowland stated that the roof of the car collided with a tree, collapsing the top of the car onto the passenger compartment trapping all three occupants inside. Rison Fire Chief Alan Parnell said the Rison Fire Department responded to the scene with extraction equipment to remove all three people.
