RISON - Rison High School Future Farmers of America(FFA) chapter member Addison Womack was elected as a state officer while Alaina Reeves was recognized for her Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE) and was awarded State Champion Gold in specialty crop production at the 96th Arkansas FFA State Convention held last week in Hot Springs.
Leanna Britton, Rison FFA adviser, said 15 students attended the three-day convention that included leadership workshops for students and advisers, business sessions, keynote speakers and a career and college expo that included agriculture industries and colleges.
Womack, who is an FFA chapter vice president, ran for Arkansas FFA state officer. Britton said Addison knew from his first FFA Arkansas Leadership Camp held in 2021 that he wanted to run for state office and ever since he has been working hard to achieve that goal.
"We are so proud of him and he is the first ever state officer from Rison," Britton said. "He will spend the next year working hard to serve the members of the Arkansas FFA Association." She said Addison believes Arkansas FFA must "Learn from the Past, Strive in the Present, and Be Ready for the Future." Britton said Womack is dedicated to representing the Southern District over the next year as he helps lead sessions at the Arkansas Leadership Camp, travels across the state and nation, attends the National FFA convention and more.
