RISON - An Oklahoma woman has been arrested and charged with first degree mur‐der in the shooting death of a Greenwood, Ark., man Satur‐day evening, Aug. 6, at a resi‐dence on Brown Road in the Macedonia community south of Rison.
Chief Deputy Gary Young of the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department said the sheriff’s office received a call at approxi‐mately 6:15 p.m. Saturday indi‐cating an individual had been shot at a residence on Brown Road off Hwy. 35 South in Cleveland County.
Deputies responded to the lo‐cation and discovered that a white male had been shot multi‐ple times in the yard at the resi‐dence and was deceased. Young said an investigation was con‐ducted at that time.
The victim was identified as Christopher Miller, 38, of Greenwood. The shooting oc‐curred during an altercation be‐tween himself and Emily Brown, 31, who lives in Broken Arrow, Okla.
Young said the investigation revealed that the victim and Brown had been in a relation‐ship but were estranged. As a re‐sult of the investigation, Emily Brown was arrested and charged with first degree murder.
Young said Emily Brown was in the county visiting a relative when the shooting took place.
She appeared before District Judge Tom Wynne on Monday, Aug. 8, and a bond was set at $40,000 secured. Yong said Brown was released after post‐ing bond and the next court ap‐pearance will be in October.
