WOODLAWN - The Woodlawn School Board approved a new assistant principal and a new head football coach during its regular monthly meeting Tuesday night. Both positions became vacant after Zach Meyer, who was serving as both head football coach and assistant principal for grades kindergarten through 12th, was promoted to Woodlawn Elementary principal during the March school board meeting.Ethan Bumpass, who has been serving as assistant principal at Camden Fairview High School for the past four years, was approved by the board to be the new assistant principal for both the elementary and high school.Woodlawn Superintendent Dr. Kevin Hancock said Bumpass had about six to eight years classroom experience before moving into his role as an assistant principal.Meanwhile, Hunter Davis, who most recently served as an assistant football coach at White Hall High School under Head Coach Daryl Patton, has been named as the new head football coach for the Bears.Woodlawn High School Principal T.J. Hill said Davis has been an assistant football coach at several Class 4A and larger high schools. In addition to serving this past season under Patton at White Hall, he was on the staff at Heber Springs High School under former Head Coach Van Pascal. He also coached at Crossett.In addition to hiring a new assistant principal and football coach, Hancock said the board also approved hiring all certified and classified staff for the 202526 school year as presented.Certified staff refers to teachers while classified staff refers to office personnel, maintenance workers, custodians and other positions that do not require a state certification.Those decisions came after the school board met in executive session for more than an hour.
