Rye EHC Supports Food Ministry for WES Students

Submitted by Jenny WrightOn Aug. 19, the Rye Extension Homemakers Club (EHC) answered a call to help support Woodlawn Elementary students. Rye EHC donated $200 and received tow private donations of $50 each. Dr. Garrett Taylor of Taylor & Carter Family Dentistry in Pine Bluff also donated two dozen tooth brushes that would be given to Woodlawn Elementary to distribute. Donna Best and Jenny Wright traveled to Sam's Club and purchased pre-packaged foods and delivered the food last Monday, Aug. 19, to Woodlawn Elementary. Rye EHC encourages local residents to reach out to this ministry. If interested, the ministry is asking for monthly donations of food that is pre-packaged and needs minimal ingredients or preparation to be ready to eat. The ladies who are collect-ing the food want the ministry to be transparent and successful so they are sharing a little information. The food will go home to students in need every Friday in a bag. Students return the bag to be filled for the next week. Teachers, parents and school staff can recommend a student for the program. The parent will then consent for their child to receive from this ministry. Anyone who would like to donate may drop off food items at the school or have them shipped to the school. If you ship to the school, please add one of the following names on the shipping label: Leslie Young 2nd grade teacher- Leslie.young@whsbears.org Amy Harbison FACTS teacher- amy.harbison@whsbears.org Krista.Ashcraft@whsbears. org...
