WOODLAWN - After playing four of their first five games at home, the Woodlawn Bears will be hitting the road for their final three regular season games starting this Friday with a trip to Dermott to face the Rams in a South Conference game. The junior high teams are scheduled to play at 5 p.m. followed by the varsity teams at 7 p.m.After a bye next week, the Bears wrap up the regular season with a trip to Marvel on Nov. 1 and to Brinkley on Nov. 8. Both are league games.Woodlawn will taking on Dermott this Friday after having an unexpected break in action when the Hermitage Hermits decided to forfeit their varsity game last Friday night at the Carl Jones Sports Complex.Dermott, meanwhile, also had an off week last Friday after the Rams decided to forfeit their game against the Corning Bobcats due to low numbers. Bears Coach Zach Meyer said Dermott will have 12 players available this Friday night, the same number as Woodlawn.While he had preferred to have played last week, Meyer said it did give them a little more time to heal up from their bumps and bruises. He said all 12 should be ready to go against the Rams.Dermott enters the game with a 1-5 record overall and an 0-2 mark in South Conference play. The Rams’ lone win came in a 62-6 blowout of start-up program Guy-Perkins back on Sept. 13. Their two conference losses came at Strong (52-0) and against Brinkley (36-0) at home.Woodlawn comes in at 4-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play after Hermitage forfeited last week.Despite their record, Meyer said the Rams will present some challenges to his Bears with their speed and athleticism. Dermott Coach Michael Wolfe, the Rams’ third head football coach in as many seasons, told Hooten’s Arkansas Football before the season that senior Jamarion Miller (6-0, 150), and juniors Rylan Williams (6-2, 160) and Lucas Figures (6-0, 150) all possess speed in the 4.4 to 4.5 range.
