DERMOTT - Dermott returned two interceptions and a fumble for touchdowns, recovered two other fumbles and came up with two onside kick attempts as the Junior Rams capitalized early and often in a 50-0 win over the Woodlawn Junior Bears last Friday afternoon at Sportman's Field in Dermott.The onslaught started with the opening kickoff when the Junior Rams came up with the ball on an onside attempt to set up shop at their own 45. Five plays later, Dermott scored on a 40-yard run to make it 6-0.The Junior Rams then recovered the ensuing onside kick attempt, but this time Griffin Manes picked off a pass on the first play of the drive and returned it to the Dermott 39. After picking up a first down at the Junior Rams' 28, Dermott picked off a Woodlawn pass and returned it 60 yards for a touchdown. The two-point conversion gave the Junior Rams a 14-0 lead.Then the Junior Bears fumbled away on the ensuing kickoff, and three plays later the Junior Rams were up 22-0 after another touchdown and conversion run.Woodlawn answered with what was its best drive of the game, using a series of runs by Manes, Tate Jacks and Bentley Hoyt to drive to the Junior Rams' 18. But on third-and-13, the Junior Bears coughed up the ball again, this time Dermott returned it 73 yards for another touchdown. The Junior Rams went into halftime with a 28-0 lead.Dermott needed just two plays to add another score on the opening series of the second half to make it 34-0. Woodlawn was picked off again on its next series, and the interception was returned 62 yards for another Junior Ram touchdown. The twopoint conversion made it 42-0 to close out the third.The Junior Bears lost the ball once again on a high snap early in the fourth quarter, and Dermott used a 42-yard run to score its final touchdown of the game.
