Lady Bears Starting Off Season 2-1

CARLISLE - Jaci Hoyt scored 17 points whle Lillie Faye McWhorter finished with a double-double as the Woodlawn Lady Bears opened their 2024-25 basketball season with a 52-29 win over the Carlisle Lady Bison last Monday at Carlisle.Woodlawn led 14-13 at the end of the first quarter before taking over in the second with a 16-2 run. The Lady Bears continued to dominate in the third quarter as well, going on a 19-4 run to take a 49-19 lead into the final period.Hoyt hit four-of-seven free throw attempts to contribute toward her team-high 17 points. She also had five rebounds.McWhorter finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds. She was seven-of-11 at the free throw line. Kathryn Dixon also scored in double figures with 11 for Woodlawn.“To begin the game we had to shake off the first game jitters,” Woodlawn Coach Synthia English said. “Defensively, we settled in starting the second and were able to run from there.
