Drew Central Gets Past Rison in Overtime, 79-75

RISON - Rison's Chandler Reeves hit his sixth 3-pointer of the second half late in the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime but the Drew Central Pirates were able to prevail in the extra period for a 79-75 win over the Wildcats in their 8-3A conference opener last Friday night inside the Rison Gym.Rison was up 29-28 at halftime and led by as many as eight in the third quarter before Drew Central closed it to a 53-50 deficit by the start of the fourth. The Pirates surged ahead in the fourth, and were leading 67-64 before Chandler Reeves hit his second trey of the final period to tie the game and send it into overtime.Drew Central ended up outsocoring Rison 12-8 in the extra frame to take the win.It was the first loss of the season for the 'Cats as they fell to 3-1 overall and 0-1 in conference play. Drew Central improved to 7-5 overall and 1-0 in conference play.Chandler Reeves finished with 36 points to lead all scorers. He had seven 3's overall with four in the third quarter, two in the fourth and one in OT.Christian Reeves followed with 18 while Kyson Walker had 10. The Wildcats made 11 from behind the arch in the game.Rison 57, Hermitge 45HERMITAGE - A slow start by Hermitage put the Hermits in a 14-0 hole by the end of the first quarter as the Rison Wildcats cruised to 57-45 win in a nonconference game last Thursday at Hermitage.Hermitage finally got its offense going in the second quarter as they matched Rison score-for-score to go into halftime down 27-13. Rison extended its lead in the third to go up 47-26 by the start the fourth quarter.Christian Reeves had 18 points to lead the Wildcats in scoring followed by Kyson Walker with 15 and Chandler Reeves with 10....
