RISON - At least for the first quarter, the Rison Wildcats were able to go toe-to-toe with the Dumas Bobcats, a team many consider to be among the 10 best in Class 3A.But in the second quarter the tide began to turn as Dumas collected itself enough to erase a seven-point deficit and pull away for a 76-57 win over Rison in 8-3A conference action Tuesday night in the Rison Gym.After the Bobcats got off to a 6-2 lead, the Wildcats went on a 10-0 run to go up 12-6 after Christian Reeves slammed home an ally-oop from his brother, Chandler Reeves. Christian had 10 points it the first quarter.Spencer Towery closed out the opening period for Rison with a 3 to give the Wildcats a sevenpoint lead before the Bobcats’ Raylen Spratt hit a late bucket to make it 17-12 at the end of the opening period.Rison regained its seven-point advantage when Chandler Reeves scored the first points of the second quarter to make it 1912. That, however, turned out to be the Wildcats’ only field goal of the period.Rison struggled to get anything to go down against Dumas while the Bobcats’ Billy Reddick started to heat up, scoring six of Dumas’ first eight points of the second quarter. The Bobcats regained the lead, 20-19, on his steal and layup with 4:47 left but Chandler Reeves tied it back up for Rison with a free throw.The Bobcats, however, went in front for good when Cayden Marshall drained a 3-pointer. That triggered a 12-0 run by Dumas as long-range bombs from Spratt and Billy Reddick extended the Bobcat lead to 3220 by halftime.The frustration for Rison began to mount in the second quarter as Christian Reeves, who accounted for 10 of the Wildcats’ 20 points in the first half, picked up two fouls just before the half to give him four for the game.
