RISON - The Rison Lady Wildcats will face the red hot Fouke Lady Panthers in the first round of the Class 3A Region 4 Tournament this afternoon at Centerpoint High School.Rison, 14-12 overall, is the no. 4 seed from the 8-3A conference while Fouke, 26-6, comes in as the no. 1 seed from the 7-3A after winning both the regular season and district tournament championships.The Lady Panthers are cur-rently riding the momentum of a 15-game win streak with their last loss coming on Jan. 3 against Pulaski Academy.Rison and Fouke will square off at 4 p.m. today (Wednesday, Feb. 26) at Centerpoint High School near Amity. Should the Lady Wildcats pull off the win, they would advance to the Region 4 semifinals at 4 p.m. Friday against the Dumas-Bismarck winner.The Lady 'Cats earned their trip to the regional by knocking off the DeWitt Lady Dragons, 52-36, in the quarterfinals of the 8-3A District Tournament last Thursday at McGehee. The two teams split their league games during the regular season with each posting home victories.Despite not having senior Layne Potter available due to illness, Rison took control early in that game, using seven points from Tee Miller to build a 14-4 lead by the end of the opening period. The Lady Wildcats doubled up the Lady Dragons, 2814, by halftime and then pushed their lead to 43-22 by the start of the fourth quarter.Miller scored in every quarter to finish with a game-high 25 points. Nakayla Washington fol-lowed with 14 points.That win put Rison into the district tournament semifinals against Dumas, which was the no. 1 seed heading into the tournament after going undefeated in conference play during the regular season.Lisa Jester, the Lady Wildcats' first-year head coach, was down two players by the time they met the Lady Bobcats on last Friday.Dumas jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back as they cruised to a 56-34 victory over Rison."They jumped on us early a...
