RISON - A seventh-inning rally by the Rison Lady Wildcats came up a run short Monday as the Hampton Lady Bulldogs held on for a 9-8 win in a nonconference game at Lady Wildcat Field.Rison had the upper hand early after scoring four runs in the bottom of the first. Layne Potter singled to start the frame and then scored on a passed ball. MacKenzie King followed with an one-out single to drive in a run, and Rhagen Price's two-out hit brought two more home for a 4-0 lead.Hampton came back with two runs in the third and another run in the fourth to cut the deficit to 4-3.The Lady 'Dogs took the lead for in the fifth using a solo homerun, two RBI singles and two bases-loaded walks to go up 8-4.Hampton added a run in the sixth off another hit to make it 94 entering the seventh inning.Potter started the bottom of the seventh with a single, and Riley Hyatt then reached on an error to put two on. After a ground out for the first out, King had a two-run double to center, cutting it to 9-6.King advanced to third on a wild pitch and Elissa Summar drew a walk to put runners at the corners. Haven Simpson followed with a ground out that scored King to make it 9-7, and Summar then scored on a passed ball to close it to 9-8.Price, after drawing a two-out walk, had advanced to scoring position at second when the comeback bid ended with a strikeout.Potter went 4-for-4 at the plate. Carlese Johnson and King followed with two hits apiece with King driving in three runs.
