'Cats Rally Late To Beat Bauxite; Rison Blows Out Drew Central

RISON - Lawson Kidd scored the winning run on a passed ball with two out in the bottom of the seventh as the Rison Wildcats rallied from a four-run deficit in the sixth to knock off the Class 4A Bauxite Miners, 9-8, in a thriller Monday afternoon at Wildcat Field.Rison trailed for much of the game as Bauxite grabbed a three-run lead in the top of the first off two singles and four walks. The Miners returned the free bases in the bottom of the first when two walks and a hit batter loaded them up before a one-out walk pushed a run across. The Wildcats tied it in second inning when Thomas Wilson led off with a single and Aaron Tilley drove him in with a double. Kidd followed with another hit to score Tilley making it 3-3.Bauxite, however, used a sacrifice fly, a single and double in the third to score four runs and go up 7-3.Rison cut it to a three-run deficit, 7-4, in the bottom of the fifth when Ayden Laws scored off an error. However, Bauxite got that run back in the top of the sixth on a bases-loaded walk, giving the Miners an 8-4 lead entering the bottom of the sixth.The 'Cats led off with three consecutibve singles from Kidd, CJ Edwards and Ethan Saeler to load the bases with no one out. After an infield fly for the first out, Laws put down a hit into left scoring Kidd, Edwards then crossed home on an error, and James Jacobs followed with a double to score Laws and tie the game, 8-8.In the bottom of the seventh, Kidd again led off with a single, and an error on Edwards' bunt allowed him to advance to second. After a strikeout for the first out, Andrew Couture was hit by a pitch to load the bases. An infield fly then led to the second out before Kidd stole home to score the game-winning run.Kidd went 3-for-4 with one walk to lead the Wildcats at the plate. Edwards and Laws both had two hits apiece. Tilley and Jacobs had doubles while Saeler, Wilson and Brayden Terry also had hits.Rison used four pitchers in the g...
