RISON - The Pioneer Village at Rison will continue its revival of the Pioneer Crafts Festival this weekend with a Beans & Greens Supper on Friday night followed by the Pioneer Crafts Festival on Saturday.The Beans & Greens Supper begins at 5 p.m. Friday in Building 2 at the Pioneer Village. Eatin and take-out will be available. The meal is $10 and will consist of beans, greens, cornbread, dessert and ice tea, lemonade or water. The Pioneer Crafts Festival will kick off at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Pioneer Village with a variety of demonstrations and activities going on throughout the day. Admission is free.This will be the second year that the Pioneer Village has held the festival in an effort to revive what was once one of the premier crafts festivals in the state, especially across southern Arkansas.While the former Pioneer Crafts Festival had a heavy emphasis on handmade items, or-ganizers say the revived version will still seek to find vendors who make hand-crafted items, but there will also be a major focus on finding people who demonstrate some of the oldtime ways of doing things.For example, Malinda Berry, one of the organizers, said there will be a person demonstrating how to make arrowheads while Ed Montgomery and the 4-H Blacksmith Club will be on hand doing live demonstrations. The Pioneer Village will have its rope-making machine set up as well.The Extension Homemakers Clubs from across the county will be set up doing craft demonstrations while Pat Berry with the Cleveland County Hamsters amateur radio club will be demonstrating how to use a telegraph.In addition, Cindy Faulk, a regular presenter on herbs at the Arkansas Homesteading Conference, will be discussing different ways to use herbs while Britt Talent, organizer of the Arkan-sas Homesteading Conference, will be demonstrating some simple seed-staring methods.The Whispering Pines Cowboy Church from Pine Bluff will be preparing some treat usi...
