William Ed “Bill” Rushing completed his earthly assignment Monday, May 12, 2025 one month shy of his 82nd birthday at JRMC after a lengthy battle with lymphoma. 

He was a plumber by trade, retiring from the State of Arkansas as a plumbing inspector after owning his own business for many years. His knowledge of life and all things mechanical was a gift that he shared generously with family, friends, and neighbors. 

Bill was born June 12, 1943 in Rose Hill, Cleveland County Arkansas to Tellis “Dick” and Rosada Mckinzie Rushing, the second of 9 children.

He married the love of his life, Nola Bradley Rushing, on May 16, 1963.

They build a beautiful life together having raised three children; Tony (Shawn) Rushing, Bill “Eddie” (Sheila) Rushing, Lori (Joe) Rotton all of Woodlawn, and bonus daughter Claudia (Dale) Dixon of Pottsville.

He is survived by their grandchildren Tony “TJ” Rushing,  Jesse (Emily) Rushing, Alicia (Bryce) Ware, Caroline (Casey) Dixon, Andrew Rushing, Matthew Rushing, Hayden Rushing, Zachary (Hannah) Rotton, Jackson Rotton, Parker Rotton as well as bonus Granchildren Allison Harris, Ricky (Dakota) Harris, Spencer (Madison) Harris, Louie (Kassie) Hurst, William (Katy) Hurst, Trey (Lacie) Hankins, Miller Dixon, and Alex Clark and 24 Great grandchildren.

His surviving siblings are Ruby (Gene) Herring, and Thomas (Cindy) Rushing of Woodlawn, Tellis Ray (Patty) Rushing of Sherrill, Richard (Monica) Rushing of North Carolina, Brenda Clemons, Ann Thom, and Connie Mason of Texas as well as brother in law Kent Smurl of Benton.

He is predeceased by his parents, great-grandson Conner, and sister, Pat Smurl.

Visitation will be at Buie Funeral Home in Rison on Thursday, May 15, 2025 from 6 to 8 pm. Services will be at Buie Friday May 16, 2025 at 11 a.m. with burial at Wesley Chapel Cemetery to follow. 

Ricky Glover and David Leopard will officiate. 

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

The family will be at the home, 510 Rushing Road.
