KINGSLAND - The man pictured behind Johnny and June Cash in this photo from the Cash Family’s 1994 concert to dedicate the new Kingsland Post Office has been identified as Reginald Kent Lisemby, a son of James Travis and Dorothy Sue (Grice) Lisemby of the New Edinburg area. According to an anonymous letter sent to the Herald, Lisemby played his Ovation 12-string guitar along with all the Lisemby Family who provided the back-up vocals and musicians for the concert. The letter stated this would be one of the last concerts that Reggie would play with the Lisemby Family as he with his wife, Crystal, and two children, Jacob and Faith, soon left to complete his Jewish and Modern Israel Studies at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. After completion of his undergraduate program, he interned in Nazareth, Israel. Lisemby returned to Chattanooga, Tenn., to become the executive director of Messianic Ministry to Israel, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that supports seven families and a messianic congregation in Israel, and two missionary families in the U.S. In addition to his ministry work, Lisemby was also once a professional musician, having played with the Oak Ridge Boys, the Blackwoods, the Happy Goodman Family, and alongside studio musicians of Dolly Parton, Elvis Presley and others.
