RISON - The Cleveland County Historical Society (CCHS) will meet at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the Ckleveland County Sturgis Library in Rison. Anyone interested in local history is invited to attend.Suzi Parker, first vice president of the CCHS, is planning to present a program on her ancestors who were some of the earliest Cleveland County settlers.Other topics for discussion will be County Projects for the America/Arkansas250 celebration of our nations’ 250th birthday (1776–2026).At the August meeting guest speaker Dr. David Ware, state historian for the Arkansas State Archives and director of the Division of Arkasnas Heritage, presented CCHS with several ideas and projects that counties, groups or individuals could use for 250th celebrations.
