CCSD Millage Meeting Held at New Edingburg

About 50 residents attended the first community meeting Monday at the New Edinburg Community Center to discuss the Cleveland County School District’s proposed 6-mill tax increase to fund construction of a new $12 million gym at Rison. Superintendent Davy King presented project details and renderings, explaining the tax increase is needed to cover the 25,434-square-foot facility, which will seat about 1,200 people and share restrooms and concessions with the football stadium. Additional meetings are scheduled Oct. 20 at Rison and Oct. 27 at Kingsland. The millage election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 18, with polling sites in Rison, Kingsland and New Edinburg....
