The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Cleveland County in effect from noon Friday, Jan. 23, until 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25. A Winter Storm Warning indicates that heavy snow of at least 6 inches in 12 hours, or at least 8 inches in 24 hours, is expected. It can also be issued if sleet accumulation will be at least half an inch.
The NWS has issued a Extreme Cold Warning for Cleveland County from 12 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, until noon Monday, Jan. 26. The NWS is expecting dangerously cold wind chills of -5 to colder than -15 during the advisory period. The NWS is forecasting a low of 4 on Sunday night and a low of 5 on Monday night for Cleveland County.

The National Weather Service has included Cleveland County in a “Major Impact” zone for the approaching winter storm. A “Major Impact” rating means residents should “expect disruptions to daily life” including dangerous or impossible driving conditions, and “widespread closures and disruptions.

DRIVING CONDITIONS
The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) offers an online map as well as an app to help track driving conditions across the state. The ARDOT crews began treating the major roadways around Cleveland County on Thursday in anticipation of the winter storm.
