CCSB To Consider Construction Manager Prospects on Monday

RISON - The Cleveland County School Board is expected to decide on a construction manager to oversee the building of a new gym at the Rison campus in a special meeting this Monday.The board decided during its regular monthly meeting this week to meet at 6 p.m. Monday, March 19, at the administration building to consider hiring a construction manager to oversee the gym project.All seven board members were present for a special meeting held last Thursday to hear presentations from four prospects wanting to oversee the job. Superintendent Davy King and architect Steve Elliott were also there. Those interviewing for the job included Kinco Constructors of Little Rock, Brody Richardson Construction of Sheridan, Clark Construction of Little Rock, and Baldwin & Shell Construction of Little Rock. Nearly all gave a projected completion date of August 2027 for the project. Elliott said the plans for the 1,500-seat gym are currently waiting for approval from the Arkansas Department of Education’s Division of Public School Academic Facilities and Transportation.  He said he expects to have the plans approved by early April.Each of the contractors has has at least some experience working with public school gymnasiums. Here is an overview of each candidate:•    Kinco Construction had five representatives at the meeting. Of the 17 school projects they recently completed, 12 were for what they described as rural districts. Some of Kinco’s more recent projects include a new arena for Mills High School in Little Rock and Mineral Springs. The company also had a project at Baum Stadium on the campus of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville as well as  for Little Rock Christian, Bald Knob, Cabot, Hope and Mountain Pine schools, among others.
