Same Company Recently Built Gyms at Monticello, Warren; Elliott Discusses Plans
RISON - Clark Construction of Little Rock was selected by the Cleveland County School Board during a special meeting Monday night to serve as the construction manager for the new gym project at the Rison School campus.Clark Construction was one of four candidates being considered for the job. Kinco Constructors of Little Rock, Brody Richardson Construction of Sheridan, and Baldwin & Shell Construction of Little Rock also made presentations during a special board meeting on March 5.While a general contractor is usually hired to take care of all phases on a construction project on its own, a construction manager acts on the client’s behalf by providing consultation, planning, and cost transparency throughout the entire project.Representatives from Clark Construction told the school board on March 5 that the company had completed 12 projects over the past 15 years totaling about $130 million. Among those were the new Student Success Center at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, and the new gyms for Monticello and Warren High Schools. The fact that Clark recently completed two gym projects in neighboring counties seemed to sway some of the board members in Clark’s direction.Tracy Streeter, the former Hamburg superintendent, was part of the Clark presentation team on March 5. She now serves as the education advocate for the company, assisting school districts on construction projects.Streeter and others pointed out during their presentation that Clark actively reaches out to students who are interested in the construction field when they do projects at school, even hiring some students to help with clean-up and other dutiesat site.
