RISON - Maumelle Charter used a five-run third inning to break the game open as the Falcons beat Rison for the second time this season, 7-3, to spoil the Wildcats first home game of the season last Thursday at Wildcat Field.The Falcons plated two runs in the first off an error and RBI single before breaking it open with the five spot in the third.After Maumelle’s first batter in the third went down on strikes, a walk and double scored one run before two more walks and a passed ball added another to make it 4-0. Rison was close to getting out of the inning without any more damage but a passed ball allowed one more run to score and then an error on a line drive to left brouht in two more to make it 7-0 Falcons.The ‘Cats chipped away at that lead the rest of the game. Brayden Terry’s liner scored Noah Matheson in the third before Matheson scored on an error in fifth. Terry’s fielder’s choice in the seventh accounted for the final run.Matheson, Matt Weaver and Easton Billings accounted for Rison’s three hits.Matheson started for the Wildcats and took the loss after going two-and-two-thirds innings. He gave up two hits and walked five while striking out four. Weaver threw the next three-and-one-third frames, allowing six hits and one walk with two strikeouts.
