LITTLE ROCK - Little Rock Mills scored two runs on a two-out error in the fifth inning as the Comets pulled off a 3-1 over the Rison Wildcats in a double-header event last Friday at Mills High School.Mills took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first off two errors before Rison tied the game on freshman Brody Howard’s single in the bottom of the fourth.The game remained tied until a hit batter and single out two runners aboard in the top of the fifth for the Comets. After a fly out led to the second out, an error at first base allowed both runners to score.The Wildcats put a runner in scoring position in the sixth off a walk and error, but a strikeout ended the threat.Rison took the loss despite have a strong performance on the mound from Noah Matheson and Logan McGarity. Matheson started and went four innings, scattering three hits with six strikeouts. McGarity tossed the final three frames, giving up two hits and striking out one. Two singles, an error and a hit batter pushed Palestine-Wheatley’s lead to 6-0 in the fifth before a single, double and homerun tacked on the final three scores in the sixth.Brayden Terry and Brody Howard had the only two hits for the Wildcats.Rison used three pitchers in the game. Mason Weaver got the start and took the loss despite giving up just one hit and one walk with two strikeouts over four innings.
