Bears Drop First Two at Robinson; Rebound With Two Wins

LITTLE ROCK - The Woodlawn Bears won their final two games of the Little Rock Robinson Invitational this past weekend to go 2-2 in an event that had 100 teams participate from across Arkansas and surrounding states.Woodlawn fell to Dale (Okla.) and DeQueen in the first two games before bouncing back with wins over Ashdown and Rose Bud. Here is a summary of each game:Dale (OK) 2, Woodlawn 1Dale scored off an error and sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning as the Pirates rallied late to get past the Woodlawn Bears, 2-1, in opening round of the Robinson Invitational last Thursday at Robinson.Woodlawn’s lone run came in the bottom of the first when Parker Arnold drew a one-out walk and Hollis Holderfield followed with a run-scoring double.Dale started the bottom of the sixth with a single before stealing second and third. An error at shortstop allowed the lead runner to score and the batter reach second. A wild pitch then moved the runner to third and the Pirates followed with a sacrifice fly to socre the winning run.Runs and hits were tough to come by for both teams as Dale finished with four and Woodlawn had three. Holderfield, Clark and Cash Hargis accounted for Woodlawn’s three hits.The Bears used four pitchers with Logan Clark going the first five-and-one-third innings before Holderfield finished off the sixth. Tyler French recorded two outs and Ethan Saeler one out in the seventh.
