RISON - DeWitt scored all five of its runs with two out in the fifth and six innings as the Dragons came away with a 5-1 win over the Rison Wildcats in an 8-3A conference game Tuesday at Wildcat Field.Rison took a 1-0 lead in bottom of the third when CJ Edwards drew a lead-off walk before Trent Southerland brought him home with a two-out single.That lead held up until the top of the fifth.An error and a walk had two Dragons on with one out when a fielder’s choice had the ‘Cats within an out of getting out of the inning. However, the next batter had an RBI single, and after another walk, an error scored another run to give DeWitt a 2-1 lead.The Dragons added to that lead in the sixth. After the first two batters were retired, three errors and a walk added three more runs to push the DeWitt lead to 5-1.Rison put two runners on in both the sixth and seventh innings, but could not push a run across.Noah Matheson started for the Wildcats, giving up one hit and five walks over five innings. He had five strikeouts.Mason Weaver came on in relief for the final two frames. He walked three and did not give up a hit. The three runs scored against him were all unearned.Southerland and Brayden Terry had Rison’s two hits in the game.
