Woodlawn Blanks Maumelle; Bears Annihilate Gurdon, 24-0

MAUMELLE - Tyler French, Ethan Saeler and Logan Clark combined to throw a no-hitter as the Woodlawn Bears used an explosive first inning to dominate the Maumelle Charter Falcons, 13-0, in a non-conference game Tuesday at Maumelle.It was the third consecutive shutout victory where the Bears invoked the run rule, this one ending after five.Woodlawn took control early with an eight-run first inning.Parker Arnold sparked the early outburst when he doubled with one out in the opening frame. Hollis Holderfield singled him in for the first run before a hit by Saeler and a double by Clark tacked on one more.Gavin Edmonds followed with an RBI single before Woodlawn recorded its second out with a pop up. Tyner Burris then drew a walk to load the bases and French singled to drive in two more runs. An error on Cash Hargis’ grounder brought in another run before a walk reloaded the bases.Holderfield drew a walk to force in another score and Saeler was hit by a pitch to add another to make it 8-0.Hargis had a two-run double in the second before the Bears plated three more in the fourth off an error, RBI single by Hargis and a wild pitch making it 13-0.French started on the mound and received the win. He did not allow a hit or walk while striking out two over two innings. Saeler threw the next two frames giving up no hits and one walk with three strikeouts. Clark finished off the fifth without a hits while walking one and striking out one.Hargis, Saeler and Burris all had two hits apiece with Hargis driving in three runs and Saeler two.
