The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department investigated a reported threat involving a 13-year-old student after school officials notified authorities Tuesday, Lt. Brad Young reported.
Investigators determined the alleged statement about shooting the school was made during a telephone conversation several days earlier. After interviewing witnesses and reviewing the circumstances, officers determined the juvenile had no access to weapons or ability to carry out the threat. The student will not attend Cleveland County schools and will face a terroristic threatening charge in Juvenile Court. Authorities said there is no credible threat to the school.
Young reminds students and parents that threats, even as jokes, can have serious consequences.
