City Council Accepts Neal’s Resignation, Appoints Crosby to Position
KINGSLAND - Kingsland City Council member Sharon Crosby is now mayor of the city after the council formally accepted the resignation of former mayor Luke Neal during its regular monthly meeting last Thursday night at Kingsland City Hall.
Neal had served as mayor since May 2019, having been appointed to the position by the city council following the resignation of former mayor Ron Workman. Neal represented Ward 2, Position 1 on the Kingsland City Council when he was appointed to lead the city.

Shortly after taking the vote, Penister asked the council for nominations for mayor, and Wiscaver quickly nominated Crosby. Her motion was seconded and her appointment was approved by a 3-0 vote of her fellow council members.
Crosby said in an interview after the meeting that her intentions are to serve out the remainder of Neal’s term through the end of the year, and “see how it goes” should she consider staying on any longer than that.
