Theater Group Holding Auditions This Sunday

RISON - The Cleveland County Community Theater is taking auditions for “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” from 2 to 4 p.m. this Sunday, Sept. 11, at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds in Rison. The show will be held Dec. 3 at the fairgrounds. This will be the Community Theater’s first show in about two years after the COVID pandemic shut down performances. Set in late 1941, “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” is the story of a family's faith and a nation on the brink of World War II, preparing to celebrate the birth of the Prince of Peace. The show is being directed by Angel Jacobs, and has a cast of about 20 that includes men, women, singers and narrators. Characters for the production include Norma, a young wife; Howard, Norma’s father; Angie, Norma’s sister; Micky, Norma’s 8-10 year old son; Danny, a mailman; Sid, a man who lives downstairs; Lil, a building maintenance supervisor; and Jerry Brainerd, a radio announcer. Additional roles include a newscaster, four radio actors, choir director, and Buddy Bufriend. That are also roles for several soloists singing a variety of Christmas music.
