MAGNET COVE - The Rison Wildcats cranked out 19 hits on their way to blowing out the Magnet Cove Panthers, 17-2, in a five-inning non-conference game Saturday at Magnet Cove.
Blaine Dixon's had a perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate led what turned out to be a red hot batting order for the Wildcats at Magnet Cove. Brock Southerland, Owen Morrison, Andrew Couture, Jared Saeler, James Jacobs and Jacob Weaver all finished with two hits apiece. Jud Terry, Matthew Howard and Lawon Kidd also had hits.
Couture got it going early for Rison when his double with the bases full in the top of the first drove in three runs and then a bases-loaded walk added another run to give the 'Cats a quick 4-0 lead.
Magnet Cove scored two runs in the bottom of the first to cut the lead in half, but Couture delivered a two-run double in the top of the second and a RBI single by Saeler pushed the Wildczts' lead to 7-2.
Rison then broke the game open with seven runs in the third.
After the lead-off batter struck out, singles by Dixon and Morrison and Couture being hit by a pitch loaded the bases. An error then scored two runs before a strikeout gave Rison its second out.
A bases-loaded walk added another score and then Southerland had a single to bring one more home to make it 11-2. Another walk with the bases full scored another run and back-toback RBI singles by Dixon and Morrison extended the lead to 14-2.
The 'Cats added two more in the fourth off a bases-loaded walk to Terry and a single from Howard. Rison's final run came on single by Weaver in the top of the fifth.
The game ended on the 10-run rule after the Panthers batted in the bottom of the fifth.
Morrison started on the mound for Rison and got the win. He gave up six hits and one walk over three innings. He had two strikeouts.
