Rison Farmers Market Opens May 25, New Village Market Set For Summer

RISON - The Rison Farmers Market has announced it will be opening the 2023 market on Thursday, May 25, at FBT Community Park in downtown Rison, manager Greg Jaggers has announced. In addition, Jaggers announced that the Rison Farmers Market and the Pioneer Village are teaming up to launch a new Village Farmers Market and Homestead Trade Day at the Pioneer Village in Rison this summer. The Village Market and Trade Day will be held the third Saturday morning of each month throughout the summer: June 17, July 15 and Aug. 19. Vendor space for both events will be free. Those vendors wishing to participate are encouraged to complete an online registration form to help with planning and communications regarding the events. The online registration can be accessed through the Rison Farmers Market page on Facebook or by going online to https://tinyurl.com/ 38d8c68r Both markets will be provide free booth space to those offering homegrown produce, cottage foods, plants and handmade items/crafts. In addition, Jaggers said the Village Farmers Market and Homestead Trade Day will be offering free space to those wanting to sell used farm equipment, tools, building supplies, etc. as well. The weekly starting time for the Rison Farmers Market has been moved to 5:30 p.m. each Thursday with vendor set up beginning at 5 p.m. Jaggers said he hopes pushing the starting time to later in the day will allow more time for people working out-of-town to return in time to shop. He said one common issue in the past has been many vendors had left by the time people arrived home from work. The first Village Farmers Market and Homestead Trade Day will coincide with the Cruisin' Cleveland County Bike Ride on June 17.
