RISON - Two lifters for Rison and one for Woodlawn won Class 3A and 2A state titles, respectively, while during the 2023 Arkansas High School Weightlifting Championships held Saturday at Lake Hamilton.
Logan Grubb, competing in the 123-pound division, set new Rison records in both the bench press (205 lbs.) and power clean (195 lbs.) for 400 lbs. Total, beating the old record of 370 lbs. He won the Class 3A title and finished second among all classifications in his division.
Meanwhile, Ryan Cottrell was the top Class 3A lifter in the 242-pound division.
Woodlawn's Jude Rauls won the Class 2A state tile in the 165pound division with 490 lbs.
Also in the 165 division, Rison's Steve Shaddock was second in Class 3A and overall.
