Extension Office Hosts 4-H Youth Sewing Camp

The Cleveland County Extension Service kicked off its very first 4-H youth sewing camp last week. This group of young ladies allowed their creativity to flourish while completing their very own individual projects. This camp allowed the youth to learn the basic concepts and foundational skills of sewing, which includes cutting, stitching, pressing, sewing in a straight line, turning corners and more. The youth thoroughly enjoyed the workshop, leaving with 1-2 monogrammed pillows in many different sizes. County Agent Danielle Watson issues 'A big thank you to a few of my great Cleveland County EHC ladies that volunteered, assisting with the youth and contributing their wealth of knowledge. Sewing is a great life skill that can save you time and money. Learning how to sew allows you to do your own alterations and repairs instead of adding to a landfill or paying for repairs. In addition to those practical savings, sewing can be a tool for teaching important life skills such as perseverance, patience, concentration, and creativity.'  ...
