RISON - Despite hot temperatures and heat advisories being issued, Cleveland County Judge Jimmy Cummings said the county is still experiencing bouts of heavy rain that are leading to washouts along county roads. This photo is of a washout along Towery Road northwest of New Edinburg that was reported Saturday evening, July 15.
It was one of three washouts at the Cleveland County Road Department addressed last week with the other two being along Gullett Lane southeast of New Edinburg and Gum Grove Road north of Kingsland. Cummings said this was the ninth consecutive weekend that the county road department was called out to address problems due to flooding and/or high winds. In addition to the washouts, Cummings said they also had trees down across Banks Road west of New Edinburg and Pumpkin Hill Road outside of Rison.
