RISON - Well over 100 people endured temperatures in the upper 90's to take part in the annual Rison School Prayer Walk held Sunday evening at the Rison School campus. The tradition of having a community-wide prayer event before the first day of the new school year was started in 2010 by a Sunday School class at Bethel #1 Missionary Baptist Church.
On Sunday, pastors and ministers from Bethel #1 Missionary Baptist Church, Freedom Assembly, Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Rison Church of Christ and Rison United Methodist Church led the group in prayers for students, faculty, administrators, coaches and support staff. The walk included stops in front of the high school, the PRIDE athletic building, the elementary building and the agriculture/vo-tech building.
