Street Closures Begin Friday for Fall Festival, List of Vendors Announced

Body

RISON - As festival preparation begins on Friday afternoon, Oct. 6, some streets will begin closing in Downtown Rison, Rison in the Fall organizer Douglas Boultinghouse has announced.

"Our concert stage will be arriving Friday afternoon between 1 and 5 p.m.," he said. "Once we get the approximate arrival time from our production crew, we will begin closing off the streets." Like last year, our stage is being placed at the intersection of Main and Third Streets.

Boultinghouse said business downtown should not be impacted by the closures Friday afternoon as only the intersection of Main and Third will be closed at that time.

Traffic will be able to use both streets, but will have to turn around before reaching the intersection.

Boultinghouse said after 5 p.m., the 200 and 300 blocks of Main Street, from Second Street to Magnolia Street will close, as well as Third Street from Main to Pine Street.

These streets will remain closed through late Saturday evening, Oct. 7, but will be opened back up by Sunday morning, Oct. 8.

During the festival on Saturday, those attending the festival are asked NOT to enter Main Street from Magnolia Street.

"The entire block, including the sidewalks, will be closed to the public," Boultinghouse said, noting that area will be directly behind the stage.

Entrance points are being designated and attendees are asked to enter using the alley that runs behind Buie Funeral Home, the back of FBT Community Park, the intersection of Second and Main, and the intersection of Third and Pine.
