Bears Could Share Regular Season Title With Victory

PARKERS CHAPEL - Three Bears scored in double figures as Woodlawn invoked the mercy rule against the Parkers Chapel Trojans Tuesday night with a 62-31 win at Parkers Chapel. With the victory, Woodlawn can claim a share of the 8-2A regular season title with Fordyce and Junction City by winning Friday night's road game against the Rison Wildcats. Fordyce edged Junction City, 77-76, Tuesday to hand the Dragons their second conference loss of the season. All three teams - Woodlawn, Fordyce and Junction City - split their games with one another this year, giv-ing each team two league losses. Due to the tie-breaker system, Bears Coach Logan Adair said Woodlawn will still be the no. 3 seed going into next week's 82A District Tournament at Woodlawn even if the regular season ends in a three-way tie between the schools. Woodlawn took control early against Parkers Chapel Tuesday night, leading 41-15 at the half. Garrett Weatherford paced the Bears with 17 points followed by Jude Roberts with 15 and Raylon Lawson with 13. Woodlawn improved to 17-7 overall and 9-2 in conference play with the victory. Woodlawn 76, Gurdon 59 WOODLAWN - The six seniors on the Woodlawn Bears basketball team were able to go out in style last Friday as each one scored in a 76-59 Senior Night victory over the Gurdon Go Devils inside the Rison Gym. Bears Coach Logan Adair said he had an all-senior team on the court at the start and the finish of the game. Senior Raylon Lawson paced Woodlawn with 23 points while Hayden Rushing had 10, Max Baker and Brayden Kitchens had seven apiece, Landen Ashcraft had five and Dwight Stewart scored three. Jude Roberts, meanwhile, had 14 in limited playing time.
