Jack Tipton

Jack Donald Tipton, 89, of Conway, Arkansas, went peacefully to be with the Lord on March 6, 2026. He and his twin brother were born on September 20, 1936, in New Edinburg to Carey Lawson and Susie Belle Tipton. He grew up helping his father, who was a carpenter and a farmer, while his mother ran the house and kept a kitchen garden. She was known to barter her canned goods for services.Jack was preceded in death by his parents and sister Patsy Karine Tipton Childress.Jack grew up in New Edinburg and graduated from New Edinburg High School in 1954. After a brief stint with the Army National Guard of Arkansas, he served in the army from August 1954 to August 1957. During this time, he was trained in the repair of communications equipment and jumping out of ''perfectly good planes''. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal, SP4. He then used the GI bill to obtain his B.S.E.E. Degree from the University of Arkansas in 1963. During this time, he met and married his wife, Glenda Childers, in 1961. In 1963, they were expecting their first child. After earning his degree, he became a test engineer with General Dynamics in Fort Worth TX. After about a year, he was transferred to New York where he worked for a short period of time before taking a cut in pay to get back to Arkansas where he worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. for over 30 years. After his retirement, he went on to do contract work with the government for over 10 years. When he finally settled into his 2nd retirement, his family had grown to three daughters, 9 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.His focus in life has always been God and church. A common expression he would quote, ''There but for the grace of God go I", signified his humility in his upbringing and always gave God the glory for his successes in life.
