Julia Garland McManus Freeman, 81 of Thornton died Friday March 17, 2023.
Born September 3, 1941 at Fordyce, she was a daughter of the late Roy McManus and Lorene Murry McManus.
She was a member of Thornton First Baptist Church, where she played the piano, led music, taught Sunday School and was the clerk. She was a school teacher for 35 years, teaching at Carthage, Kingsland, Thornton, and Bearden.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale Freeman; a sister, Johnnie Mc-Manus, a brother, Bobby Mc-Manus. Survivors are her son, Murry Freeman and his wife Charlene of Rison; two grandchildren, Molly Freeman of Rison and Walt Freeman and his wife Brittany of Monticello; two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Creed of Monticello; sister-inlaw Lucille Palmer of Fordyce and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services were Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Calaway Cemetery with Rev. Bobby George officiating.
Arrangements are by Benton Funeral home of Fordyce.
