AAA Announces 2024-26 Non-Football Conferences

NORTH LITTLE ROCK - The Arkansas Activities Association board of directors last week unanimously approved the new classifications and conferences for non-football sports for the upcoming 2024-26 cycle.The conferences will apply to basketball, baseball and softball for both Rison and Woodlawn high schools.Rison is one of five schools statewide that will move up from Class 2A to Class 3A with the new cycle that applies to the 2024-25 and 2025-26 school years. Woodlawn remains in Class 2A.Rison will be a member of the new seven member 8-3A that will also consist of DeWitt, Drew Central, Dumas, Helena Central, Lake Village and McGehee.Woodlawn remain a member of a new 8-2A conference that has expanded to nine teams. In addition to Woodlawn, the conference will include Fordyce, Gurdon, Hampton, Junction City, Magnet Cove, Ouahcita, Parkers Chapel and Poyen.The AAA announced this new cycle will be the first with the new competitive equity factor that is calculated every two years as well as the implementation of class 4A changing to eight member conferences....
