WOODLAWN - Mason Edmonds and Brayden Jones combined to throw a two-hitter as the Woodlawn Bears knocked off the Harmony Grove Hornets, 5-3, in the nightcap of a nonconference double-header Saturday at Woodlawn.Harmony Grove took an early 1-0 lead on a lead-off solo homerun by Caleb Johnson but Woodlawn answered with a run in the bottom of the first off a bases-loaded walk to Tate Hall.The Bears went up 2-1 in the bottom of the second on a RBI single by Garrett Weatherford, but the Hornets tied it back up, 2-2, scoring off a sacrifice bunt in the top of the third.Woodlawn regained the lead for good in the bottom of the third off an RBI single by Parker Arnold. The Bears added to their lead when Jayden Wilmoth's hit in the fourth scored a run, and Weatherford delivered another RBI single in the sixth.Harmony Grove's final score came in the top of the seventh when a runner stole home with two out.Edmonds gave up two hits and two walks with three strikeouts over the first three innings. Jones did not give up a hit and walked just one over the final four frames. Jones struck out seven.Weatherford led the Woodlawn batting order going 3-for-3 with a RBI.
