DUMAS - The Rison Junior Wildcats suffered a 36-16 loss to the Dumas Junior Bobcats last Thursday night at Bobcat Stadium in Dumas.After holding the Junior Bobcats scoreless on their first possession the Wildcats gave up their first points of the game on a 72-yard interception return with 3:35 remaining in the first quarter. The Bobcats then added a two-point conversion to take the early 8-0 lead.Payne Prescott helped the Cat’s answer with a 32-yard kickoff return before he converted on a third-and-15 play as time expired in the first quarter. Cam Johnson found paydirt from two-yards out with 4:59 remaining in the second quarter. Logan McGarity added the two-point conversion to tie the game at 8-all at that point.The Junior Bobcats answered on their next drive with a 42-yard scamper with 3:34 remaining in the first half. A quarterback sack by Dylan Berg and M.J. Chambers stopped the two-point try, giving Dumas a 14-8 advantage.Michael Kennah had a 37-yard kickoff return for Rison on the ensuing kickoff, giving the Junior Wildcats a first down at the Bobcats 44. Rison elected to go for it on fourth-and-1 from the 35 with 58 seconds remaining in the first half, but the Junior ‘Cats were tackled for a loss, turning the ball back over to Dumas on downs.The Junior Bobcats attempted to move the ball down the field once more in the first half, but the Junior ‘Cats forced a fumble on the final play of the half that was recovered by Rowdy Phillips.Dumas received the second half kickoff, then scored on a 58-yard run with 7:01 left in the third quarter.
