Lady Bears Allow Just One Run At Win Division at Blazer Blast

JONESBORO, Ark. - Woodlawn allowed just one run over three games as the Lady Bears went 3-0 Friday and Saturday to win the Green Division of the Valley View High School Blazer Blast Tournament in Jonesboro.Woodlawn knocked Class 2A Riverside, 2-0, on Friday before beating Class 4A Bauxite, 6-1, and Class 3A Mayflower, 1-0, on Saturday. All tournament games lasted five innings. Here is an overview of each game:Woodlawn 2, Riverside 0Lillie Faye McWhorter threw a two-hitter and struck out 12 as the Lady Bears got pass the Riverside Lady Rebels, 2-0, Friday night.Woodlawn broke open a scoreless tie in the top of the third when Macy Harrison had a bases-loaded single to drive in Lily White for the game’s first run.The Lady Bears added a run in the fifth when Chloe Place scored off an error with two out. Riverside did not get their first baserunner aboard until a single with one out in the fourth. An error on the next batter had runners at first and second, but McWhorter struck out the next two to leave both stranded.McWhorter did not give up a walk over the five innings she was inside the circle.Woodlawn 6, Bauxite 1Kendall Tooke, Lily White and Lille Faye McWhorter all had two hits apiece as Woodlawn overcame an early deficit to beat the Bauxite Lady Miners, 6-1, in Blazer Blast Tournament action Saturday.Bauxite used a lead-off double and follow-up single to score the game’s first run in the top of the first to give the Lady Miners an early 1-0 lead.White reached on an error to start the bottom of the first, and a Lady Miner error on Kathryn Dixon’s grounder scored White to tie the game. Tooke followed with an RBI double to give Woodlawn a 2-1 lead.Macy Harrison had a sacrifice fly to add a run in the third before the Lady Bears added three more runs in the fourth off a double by White, a single by Dixon and another double from Tooke....
