Lady Bears Beat White Hall in 2 OTs

WOODLAWN - Faith Hisaw sank both of her free throws with 10 seconds left in the second overtime as the Woodlawn Lady Bears got past the Class 5A White Hall Lady Bulldogs, 67-66, in a foul-plagued matchup at the Woodlawn gym before the Thanksgiving break. Lady Bears Coach Logan Adair said Woodlawn was whistled for 22 fouls in the game, and both of his two leading scorers in the game, freshman Jaci Hoyt and sophomore Lillie McWhorter, fouled out. Meanwhile, his leading scorer from last year, Anna Fitzgibbon, saw just 7 minutes of action. Woodlawn used a 21-12 run in the second quarter to open up a 29-21 lead at halftime. However, White Hall took advantage of the foul situation to pull even in the fourth quarter, and then sent the game into overtime knotted up 62-62. The Lady Bears' Skylar Conner hit a big 3-pointer in the first overtime to send the game into a second OT, That's when Hisaw came up with her two big free throws to put Woodlawn up 67-66 with just 10 seconds left. White Hall launched a 3-point attempt with 2 seconds left but it was off the mark. Hoyt led the Lady Bears with 16 points followed by McWhorter and Kathryn Dixon with 13 apiece. All 16 of Hoyt's points came in the first half. Conner had seven while Hisaw went 4-for-4 at the free throw line. Des Arc 67, Woodlawn 46 DES ARC - Des Arc used five 3-pointers to help score 48 points in the first half as the Lady Eagles used the hot start to cruise by the Woodlawn Lady Bears, 67-46, in a non-conference game Nov. 17 at Des Arc. The Lady Eagles were up 22-16 by the end of the first quarter before extending it to a 48-25 lead by halftime. Adair said Woodlawn struggled against the Des Arc's pressure, which resulted in some easy buckets for the Lady Eagles.
