Lady Bears Blow Out Ouachita; Beat WH

WOODLAWN - Jaci Hoyt used a triple and two doubles to drive in six runs, and Lillie Faye McWhorter tossed a no-hitter as the Woodlawn Lady Bears blew out the Ouachita Lady Warriors, 14-0, Monday afternoon at Lady Bear Field. After a scoreless first inning, Woodlawn plated five runs in the second off a walk, an error, a double by Lily White, a triple by Hoyt, a double by Kathryn Dixon, another error and a double by Anna Fitzgibbon. Doubles by White, Dixon and Fitzgibbon combined with another triple by Hoyt powered another five-run frame by the Lady Bears in the third, making it 10– 0. Woodlawn added four more in the fourth off a walk, an error, a double by Hoyt, another error and a double by McWhorter. Seven of the Lady Bears' 13 hits in the game went for extra bases. Hoyt led the way with a triple and two doubles while McWhorter finished with two doubles, and Dixon and White had one double apiece. Dixon had three RBIs in the game while McWhorter had two. McWhorter gave up just one walk in her no-hitter while striking out 11 over five innings. Woodlawn improved to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in conference with the win. Woodlawn had suffered backto-back one-run losses going into the game, falling to Parkers Chapel, 1-0, last Tuesday and then to Class 3A Hackett, 2-1, on Friday.
