Lady Bears Go 4-2 at Russellville

RUSSELLVILLE - The Woodlawn Lady Bears went 4-2 in tournament action at Russellville this past weekend. Here is a recap of those games: Lamar 2, Woodlawn 0 Lamar squeezed out a couple of runs off a single and an error in the third inning as the Class 3A Lady Warriors edged the Woodlawn Lady Bears, 2-0, last Friday.Both teams had just three hits over the five-inning game. One of those hits for Lamar came as a lead-off single to start the top of the third. The next batter reached on an error, and the Lady Warriors scored off a lineout and sacrifice bunt.Woodlawn used a single from Lillie Faye McWhorter and an error to put two aboard in the second, but couldn't push a run across.Laci Rauls took the pitching loss after giving up three hits with one walk and six strikeouts over four-and-one-third innings. McWhorter struck out the final two batters she faced in the fifth.McWhorter, Kendall Tookeand Bay Aud accounted for Woodlawn's three hits.Woodlawn 13, Dover 0 Kendall Tooke went 3-for-3 with a homerun to drive in three runs and Lillie Faye McWhorter struck out 8 of the 9 batters she faced as Woodlawn hammered the Class 3A Dover Lady Pirates, 13-0, in three innings Saturday.Tooke's two-run homer in the bottom of the first sparked an 11run outburst by the Lady Bears. McWhorter, Karsyn Chastain, Lily White, Kathryn Dixon, Tooke and Macy Harrison all had singles in the opening frame.Dover never put a baserunner aboard as McWhorter fanned the first seven batters she faced before the Lady Pirates finally put it in play with a ground out in the third. McWhorter retired the next batter on strikes to close out the game.White, McWhorter and Chastain had two hits apiece.Woodlawn 11, Waldron 2 Laci Rauls threw a one-hitter as the Woodlawn Lady Bears used a 10-run first inning to breeze by the Waldron Lady Bulldogs, 11-2...
